Stop all anticommunist persecutions in Georgia

The European Communist Initiative strongly condemns the prosecution of the President of the Central Committee of the Unified Communist Party of Georgia (UCPG), comrade Temur Pipia, by the Georgian authorities, citing the anti-communist anticommunist law banning communist symbols equating them with those of the Nazis. Comrade Pipia was arrested returning from a trip, because in his luggage had commemorative medals for the 75th anniversary of the Great Antifascist Victory. This is a provocative disrespect to the memory of more than 300,000 Georgians who gave their lives against fascism. Anti-communism and the unacceptable equation of communism with the monster of fascism will not pass. The history that the peoples wrote with their own blood cannot be rewritten, no matter how much bourgeoisie ‘s efforts in vain.

Solidarity with the struggle of the Communists of Georgia!

We demand the immediate release of comrade Temur Pipia and the return of all commemorative symbols of the 75th anniversary of the Great Anti-Fascist Victory of the Peoples.

The Secretariat of the European Communist Initiative.
