The so-called “deal of the century” introduced by Trump administration together with the corrupt leader of Israel, Netanyahu, is another disgraceful attempt to endorse and bolster the actions of the oppressor.
It is neither a peace treaty nor a deal between equals. It strengthens and shields the Israeli occupation, supports the annexation of the Jordan Valley and preserves the settlements. It violates the sovereign rights of the Palestinian people.
As communist and workers’ parties of the European Communist Initiative, we condemn, in the strongest sense, this treacherous and very dangerous initiative. We consider the plan as an invalid, irrelevant piece of paper, which has excluded the wishes of the people of the region.
This device is a demand to the Palestinian people to surrender their fundamental rights and freedoms, their rights to throw off the occupation, to liberate the Palestinian territories and create an independent Palestinian state. It is an endorsement of Israeli annexation.
The plan, which is designed to squeeze the Palestinian people into various enclaves, has nothing to do with the interests of the people in the region. If this deal is implemented, for the forthcoming years, the dominance of the Israeli bourgeoisie and the imperialist powers will increase. The “deal” is to serve the criminal interests of the Israeli bourgeois state and its imperialist allies.
Trump's miserable effort to bribe the Palestinian people and people of the surrounding countries, under the pretext of “development” will be at the expense of their freedom, peace and historical bonds. The so-called development or prosperity will not benefit the wellbeing of the people but will serve to fill the pockets of the monopoly-owners.
The plan provocatively and unjustly denies the rights of return of millions of refugees and their children and grandchildren, families who have been forcefully expelled from their land.
Experience highlights the necessity of the working class unity, the strengthening of the Palestinian people's struggle, and the intensification of internationalist solidarity. No class-collaborationist approach can bring peace and freedom to the people of Palestine.
Communist and workers parties of Europe are in full solidarity with the people of Palestine against the occupation, for establishing an independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital, the release of Palestinian prisoners and assuring the right to return of the refugees. It should be the people of the region, and no other foreign actor, to determine their own future, and the right to determine this belongs only to them. Against all dirty “deals”, we will support the resistance of the Palestinian people.
Down with the so-called “deal of the century”!
Down with imperialism!
Long live the internationalist solidarity between the working people of Palestine and the Middle East!
